They are also used in cases of chronic otitis media with ossicular erosion, ossicular fixation, or for removal of the malleus in otosclerosis.
The instrument features a guillotine-style cutting tip that efficiently nips away small bone pieces. As a result, surgeons can collect grafting material and reshape not only the bone but also its surrounding cartilage.
