Tuning Fork
Care Instruments offer Tuning Fork with Solid handle & Satin Finish. It is primarily used to assess vibratory sensation in neurological examinations, aiding in the detection of sensory abnormalities and conditions like peripheral neuropathy or nerve damage.
They are also used in audiology to assess hearing thresholds and conduct bone conduction tests. They find applications in audiological evaluations and hearing aid fittings to measure the patient’s ability to perceive sound vibrations.
To ensure optimal performance, each tuning fork consists of two prongs, dampers, a shoulder, a stem, and a base. To achieve a specific frequency, strike the prongs against a solid surface at the junction between the upper and middle thirds.
Hold the fork approximately 2.5 cm away from the ear to evaluate air conduction. For optimal results, position the prongs at right angles to the ear. After the initial test, place the base on the mastoid process to assess bone conduction.
